My approach to therapy
As an experienced clinical psychologist, I use several evidence-based approaches to help clients work through and heal from their experiences.
For depression and other mood disorders, I primarily use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to address negative thought patterns and promote positive change. When working with anxiety, including social anxiety and Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), I integrate CBT with mindfulness-based techniques to improve resilience and emotional regulation.
For OCD and phobias, I use Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), a highly effective method for reducing avoidance behaviours and intrusive thoughts. In cases of addiction and codependency, I take an integrative, multi-modality approach with a systemic perspective, working with both individuals and families working towards long term, sustainable change. For complex trauma and PTSD, I use Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help reprocess distressing memories and restore emotional balance.
My therapy approach is tailor-made to suit your specific needs. We will usually discuss the best combination of approaches for you in the assessment session.
I am NOT the right therapist for you if:

While therapy does give relief in the short term, I have found the most effective way I work tends to be over a longer term, with the opportunity to develop a meaningful relationship with my clients.

I believe in collaborating with you, and expect you to work with me to achieve your goals.
𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐝𝐨 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐝.
I believe in showing up authentically as a clinician, and this means challenging you when I think is therapeutically appropriate.

Therapy is a commitment. I take on a limited caseload of clients to be able to provide a specialist service while taking the time to carefully plan a tailored approach. I expect that you will read through all the information provided beforehand and budget for our sessions accordingly.

The term ‘therapist’ is not a protected title in the UK, meaning anyone with little to no training can call themselves a therapist. ‘Clinical psychologist’ is a protected title. This means that as an HCPC registered clinical psychologist, I have met all the strictly regulated standards of proficiency, training equivalence and have a professional duty of care. I know some amazing therapists and coaches but my fees reflect the specialist nature of my work.

I take an integrative, holistic approach, combining scientifically-backed interventions like CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) and EMDR (Eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing), with mindfulness and acceptance-based strategies. This allows me to provide individualized relationship therapy, grief counseling, and support for mood disorders.
My work is rooted in a social justice and anti-oppressive lens, with a particular focus on decolonizing therapy within the South Asian community, including individuals and couples from Indian, Bangladeshi, Nepalese, Pakistani, and Sri Lankan backgrounds. I currently offer virtual therapy only. This means that you can access online counselling conveniently from anywhere with online therapy sessions, and enjoy the flexibility of receiving support from the comfort and privacy of your own home.
Virtual therapy is scientifically proven to be as effective as face to face therapy.
If I feel your needs may not be suitably met by virtual therapy for any reason, I will let you know this in our assessment session.
