Meet Raisa Luther (she/her/hers), HCPC licensed clinical psychologist, chartered psychologist with British Psychological Society, and EMDR trained therapist.
Our Story
I started this practice after noticing a significant gap in how mental health services in the UK meet the needs of people from ethnic minority backgrounds. Despite the country’s diversity, support often overlooks cultural nuance.
Background
Raisa Luther is a BPS Chartered and HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologist, and the Founder and Clinical Director of Nirvana Circle Therapy.
She brings over a decade of experience working across inpatient, outpatient, community, and private practice settings in the UK and internationally. Her clinical work spans complex trauma, attachment and relational difficulties, anxiety, substance use, and severe and enduring mental health presentations.
Alongside senior clinical leadership roles within specialist mental health services, Raisa has worked and trained at a grassroots level in India during her clinical psychology training, including with individuals, families, and communities in rural and under-resourced settings. This experience has shaped a clinically grounded and culturally attuned approach, informed by an understanding of structural adversity, intergenerational trauma, and limited access to mental health care.
Raisa has also held leadership roles including Lead Clinical Psychologist in inpatient psychiatric rehabilitation services and Clinical Lead in outpatient settings, with responsibility for complex assessment, formulation, risk management, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
Her therapeutic approach is relational, trauma-informed, and depth-oriented. She is particularly attuned to the ways early experiences, culture, identity, and relationships shape psychological distress, especially when difficulties are layered or longstanding.
Coming from a South Asian background, Raisa holds a specialist interest in working with individuals and families from South Asian and culturally diverse communities, with sensitivity to the intersections of culture, migration, family systems, and intergenerational expectations.
Alongside her clinical work, Raisa has extensive experience in clinical supervision, training, and service development, supporting psychologists, trainees, and multidisciplinary professionals across the UK and India.
As Clinical Director of Nirvana Circle Therapy, she holds responsibility for the clinical and ethical framework of the practice, ensuring that care is thoughtful, well-contained, and grounded in best practice. In her personal clinical work, she offers a limited number of therapy spaces, including focused and intensive therapeutic work for clients seeking depth, clarity, and meaningful change beyond traditional weekly therapy.

FAQs about therapy with Raisa
-
I work with a limited number of clients at any one time. Availability varies, and I offer a small number of spaces for focused or intensive therapeutic work. If I’m not able to take you on, I may recommend another therapist within the practice who is well suited to support you.
-
I tend to work best with individuals who are seeking depth and are open to exploring underlying patterns related to trauma, attachment, relationships, or identity. This work often suits people who feel stuck despite insight or previous therapy.
-
Sessions are 50 minutes long, and fee details are shared during the consultation or listed on the website. I offer a specialist service with a limited caseload to ensure a personalised and high-quality therapeutic experience.
-
Sessions are currently held online, making it flexible and convenient whether you’re in central London or further out. From 2026, offer in-person sessions only for therapy intensives or assessments.
-
Absolutely. I work with clients across the UK via secure online sessions, so location is not a barrier to accessing support.
-
Yes, online therapy has been shown to be just as effective as in-person therapy for many individuals. It also offers more flexibility and comfort, especially for those balancing busy schedules or wanting privacy.
