Couples & Relationship Therapy Intensives
Focused, accelerated support to help you break painful patterns and rebuild emotional connection - without waiting months for change.
What to Expect
For conscious, growth-oriented couples who feel disconnected or stuck, but deeply want to heal and reconnect.
You love each other-but something’s felt off.
Maybe communication has broken down. Maybe you’re stuck in painful patterns, or feeling more like roommates than partners.
You’re not looking for a quick fix. You want real change.
Honest connection. Lasting growth.
and a relationship that feels alive again.
When you're caught in the same arguments or painful silence, weekly therapy can feel too slow - or not deep enough. You might spend half the session calming down from the last fight, then barely scratch the surface before time runs out.
A Couples Therapy Intensive is designed for couples who are in crisis, feeling distant, or locked in painful patterns - and want real movement.
How a Couples Therapy Intensive Is Different from Weekly Therapy
Most traditional couples therapy happens in 50-minute sessions once a week. While this format can be helpful, it often means you’re just getting into something important… when the clock runs out.
Progress can feel slow, especially when you’re dealing with deeper patterns or high-stakes issues.
Your relationship could change in a few weeks.
An intensive is specifically designed for busy professionals or individuals who find weekly sessions hard to commit to.
Couples Therapy Intensive
4-Week Intensive Program: For High-Conflict & Emotionally Disconnected Couples
This couples therapy intensive is designed for partners experiencing high levels of conflict, emotional disconnection, or recurring relational ruptures that feel difficult to shift in standard weekly therapy.
The structure intentionally combines joint and individual work to reduce reactivity, support emotional safety, and address the underlying attachment and trauma-based patterns contributing to conflict or withdrawal.
-
This program may be appropriate if:
Conflict escalates quickly or feels repetitive and unresolved
One or both partners experience emotional shutdown, withdrawal, or distance
Attempts at communication lead to further rupture rather than repair
Early attachment experiences or past relational trauma are impacting the relationship
The relationship feels stuck in cycles of pursuit, defensiveness, or disengagement
Weekly couples therapy has felt too reactive or insufficient for meaningful change
This program is not suitable where there is ongoing abuse or coercive control.

Free Consultation – 20-Minute Introductory Video Call
A joint consultation to understand your relationship concerns, goals, and history, and to assess whether an intensive couples format is clinically appropriate.
We’ll begin by exploring your goals and challenges, clarifying what you want to focus on during the intensive.Week 1: Joint Introductory Session – 1 Hour
A structured joint session to:
Understand the relationship context and key areas of difficulty
Identify recurring conflict or disconnection patterns
Establish boundaries, safety, and therapeutic agreements
Clarify goals and assess suitability for intensive work
This session sets the relational container for the work ahead.
Week 2: Intensives 1 & 2 – Couple & Individual Sessions
Two extended sessions (90 minutes each), split between joint and individual work.
Focus includes:
Slowing down reactive conflict cycles
Understanding each partner’s attachment responses under stress
Individual exploration of triggers, emotional regulation, and relational history
Beginning to separate present-day conflict from earlier attachment wounds
Individual sessions provide space to process emotions without escalating relational dynamics.
Week 3: Intensives 3 & 4 – Couple & Individual Sessions
Two further extended sessions (90 minutes each), continuing a balance of joint and individual work.
Focus includes:
Deepening insight into relational patterns and emotional needs
Supporting emotional regulation and accountability
Facilitating moments of repair and reconnection
Addressing emotional withdrawal, shutdown, or defensiveness
Integrating individual insights back into the relational space
Sessions are carefully paced to maintain safety for both partners.
Week 4: Joint Integration Session – 1 Hour
The final joint session focuses on:
Consolidating relational shifts and insights
Strengthening repair and reconnection strategies
Supporting emotional safety moving forward
Discussing next steps for continued therapy or maintenance
Unlike weekly sessions that can stretch progress over months, this intensive format offers 8-10 hours of condensed therapy over a few weeks, helping you break patterns, deepen connection, and create lasting change
Couples Therapy Options: Standard Sessions vs. Intensives
Standard Couples Therapy
Weekly or bi-weekly 50-minute sessions
Typically across 4–6 months or longer
Investment upwards of £2700 (usually 15 - 20 sessions x £150)
Weekly time commitment.
Ideal for gradual progress.
Best suited for couples navigating ongoing issues, rebuilding after rupture, or needing structured support
Couples Therapy Intensive
60 - 120 minute sessions
Typically across 4 weeks
Total investment £1500, with flexible payment plans available
Short-term, immersive. Ideal for focused breakthroughs
Accelerated change in one month
Best suited for couples who are committed, looking to work through a specific block or issue, and ready for focused progress.
Ideal for those who may have had couples therapy before.
Intensives are not recommended for couples in active crisis (e.g. high conflict, emotional dysregulation), recent or ongoing infidelity, or where one or both partners are unsure about staying in the relationship.
These situations typically require a slower, trust-building approach over time. Weekly therapy is better suited to create the safety and structure needed in these cases.
This Is for You If…
You’re both committed to staying connected, growing together, and doing the hard—but life‑changing—work your relationship needs.
You’ve lost your way in communication or conflict
You’re both hurting, but still care deeply
Either of you struggles to ask for—and accept—deeper emotional connection
You believe your bond matters more than your patterns
If you’re in pain, disconnected, or constantly fighting—
You don’t need more months of surface-level sessions.
You need a breakthrough.
That’s what intensives are for.

FAQs about therapy intensives
-
Therapy intensives are extended therapy sessions designed to help you process and heal from distressing or traumatic experiences in a focused, concentrated way. Instead of weekly sessions, intensives allow us to dive deeper over 90 minutes- helping you make meaningful progress in a shorter timeframe.
I use EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) as the primary modality during these intensives, allowing for targeted and effective trauma reprocessing in a safe, supported space.
They’re ideal if you’re feeling stuck, want to work through a specific issue more efficiently, or prefer a more immersive approach to trauma healing. -
If you're ready for deep work and have a clear goal or trauma you'd like to address, an intensive may be a good fit. It's also great for busy professionals or individuals who find weekly sessions hard to commit to. A consultation call will help us decide the best approach for your needs.
